PRINCIPAL & CHIEF ECONOMIST

I am Professor and former Chair of the Department of Economics & Business in the Pompea College of Business, University of New Haven.  

Dr. Rodriguez is an authority on competition policy, unsupervised machine learning applications and algorithmic bias. Using empirical models he researches issues related to text analysis, survey design, pricing, and consumer behavior.

In his recent work, Professor Rodriguez has investigated the impact of data artifacts and algorithmic bias on college admissions.  He has conducted award-winning research on domestic and international competition policy. 

Professor Rodriguez also addresses a range of topics related to product placement and pricing, and how nonlinear pricing affects consumers’ choice and usage behavior.

He has presented his research in a variety of settings and testified in domestic and international legal proceedings. 

Dr. Rodriguez  earned both a BS in Chemical Engineering (1981) and a PhD in Economics (1991) from the University of Texas at Austin.
